One of the more peculiar medical job professions that is most usually found in countries with relaxed laws on medical economics is that of the medical representative.
Medical representatives or med reps are basically marketing executives hired by pharmaceutical companies to basically hawk the companies’ medical products to doctors and hospitals. The medical representative is tasked to talk to doctors to present their products and basically entice them to prescribe the products to their patients. Med reps will do various things in order to gain the loyalty of the doctors, like wining and dining them or sending them to various trips. There is a moral line that they are actually crossing, which is the reason why this profession also gets some flak from some quarters.

The curriculum vitae is an important document. It serves as your ticket to get into an interview. It is important that your CV looks neat and presentable. Here are some tips on how you should design your CV:

 -	Just like a regular electronic mail, include your curriculum vitae in the body of the text.
-	Keep it simple and short.
-	Use readable fonts like Times New Roman, Verdana or Tahoma. Don’t use Comic Sans MS, please.
-	State your email address first, then your home address and contact details.
-	Do not forget to put the seminars/trainings you’ve attended, qualifications and work experiences.
-	Be clear in stating your e-mail subject (e.g. Vacancy for Staff Nurse).

Applying for a medical job is just the same as applying for another job. Just make the most out of it.

Most companies do hire those who are graduates of medical courses (e.g. nursing, physical therapy, medical technology etc), retired medical practitioners and those who were able to finish the short course in medical transcription.

The recording covers a wide variety of medical areas like exam reports, autopsies, patient histories, consultations and discharges. After the whole audio is transcribed, the final output will now be sent to the editor to double check everything and fix the necessary adjustments. The editor will now send it back to the health professional and they will be in-charge of reviewing the whole document, signing it and do some corrections. The transcribed document will now be a part of the patient/hospital’s medical record.

An HR Administrator once told me that she had encountered some applicants who submitted 3-5 pages of curriculum vitae. When she read the contents, she was surprised to read some unnecessary details and some information not related to the job he’s applying for. She gave the job hunter a chance by scheduling an interview the next day. The closed door meeting with the panel ended up as a disaster because it turned out that the applicant is not really sure of what he wrote in his resume. He hasn’t even attended the seminars he stated!

If you are applying for a job, make sure that you tell nothing but the truth. The HR officers can search for your records anytime via the character references and internet search.

It is important that you practice answering the most anticipated questions. Practicing gives you a feeling of confidence because in a way, you are assured that you are able to answer their questions. Listen to the questions properly. Do not rush in answering the questions because you might end up giving the wrong or out of this world answers and lastly, take a deep breath – this helps. Whew!
